Ableton Mapper
Try it here: ableton.sven.zone
Have you seen some of the crazy MIDI setups some artists use? BinkBeats, Red Means Recording etc.
When performing live, you need everything at your fingertips. Keyboard and mouse won’t cut it. You need MIDI controllers.
So why does Live make it so hard to map MIDI?
Hands2MIDI
I built Hands2MIDI to help people map hand movements to MIDI. It’s a great tool for live performance, but since it’s outputting over 40 MIDI messages for each hand, it takes a long time to setup, especially tabbing between the hands2MIDI app and Ableton (you need to select the controller to map from in Ableton, then click to send a dummy message from the hands2MIDI app - repeat for each mapping).
Not bad for simple mappings like this:
But try scaling that up.
Ableton Mapper
more info coming soon, but TLDR:
- Upload a Live .als file
- The remapper will detect every mappable control in the file
- Choose which to map or remap
- Download the remapped .als file
- Open in Live
